Marion Mae Stroschein, 84, of Elkader, died Sunday morning, April 1, 2007, at the Elkader Care Center following a long illness.

She was born May 4, 1922, in rural Strawberry Point, to Jack and Daisy (Farmer) Kellogg. On April 16, 1941, Marion was united in marriage to Cyrenus W. Stroschein. Eight children were born to this union.

Marion was a loving and giving person, always putting her family and friends first. Marion enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with her family and friends. She adored her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Elkader.

Those left to cherish her memory include Joseph (Deborah) Stroschein of Elkader, Lester Stroschein of Marion, Fredrick Stroschein of Elkader and Ruth Schofield of Deltona, Fla.; grandchildren, Bill (Brenda) Stroschein and Dan Stroschein of Marion, Tammy (Tim) Taylor of Grafton, Wis., Hollie (Mike) Whittle of Volga, and Joshua (Susan) Wiedner of Elkader; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Austin, Ryan and Madison Stroschein of Marion, Grant Dean Taylor of Grafton, Wis., Joseph, Benjamin and Jonathan Whittle of Volga, Emily, Amy and Charlie Wiedner of Elkader; her siblings, J.P. (Patty) Kellogg of Strawberry Point, Rayma (Donald) Mclane of Cedar Rapids, Charmion Petsche of Urbana, Merle Hansel of Garber, Harold Kellogg of Chicago, Dale Kellogg of Chicago and Bonnie Putzier of Minneapolis; many nieces and nephews; and caring friends.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents; sons during infancy, John L., Clifford C. and Vincent V., and U.S. Marine Cpl. Ronald R. Stroschein during the Vietnam conflict in September 1968.

Marion's wishes were to donate her body to University Hospitals in Iowa City for medical research.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Elkader Care Center for the loving care given to Marion.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. April 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Elkader, with the Rev. Paul Peters as celebrant.
