Robert Tackman, age 73, of rural Garnavillo, IA, died Sunday, August 21, 2016.

He was born the son of Emil and Ilsa (Esmann) Tackman, August 30, 1942, on the family farm near Garnavillo. Robert received his education and graduated from the Garnavillo High School with the class of 1961.

He served his country in the United States Army from April 7, 1964 till he received his honorable discharge on April 1, 1966.

On October 5, 1968, Robert was united in marriage with Shirley Mae Radabaugh and this union blessed them with a daughter.

Over the years, Robert worked carpentry at Trademark Homes and retired after working over 20 years in maintenance for the Guttenberg Care Center.

Robert was an outdoor enthusiast. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, and spending time with his granddaughter Ellie.

Robert is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Shirley; daughter: Julie (Franklyn) Davis; granddaughter, Elizabeth “Ellie” Davis; sister in law, Brenda Tackman and many other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two brother, Ervin and Kenneth Tackman.
