At the home of Louis Wilke in Cox Creek twp., on Sunday, Dec. 29th, occurred the death of his mother, Grandma Wilke, at the age of 87 years.

Deceased was born in Germany and came with her family to the United States in 18__ (looks like 1866}, where a year later her husband died. She had been a resident of Clayton county for more than forty years.

She is survived by her son, Louis, mentioned above, her son Henry, of Garnavillo, and a daughter, Mrs. Beck, of Oklahoma, and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Communia, Rev. Leonhard, of this city, officiating, at which time kindred friends assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed.

Her children mourn the loss of a good mother, her neighbors the departure of a true friend, and all hope that it is well with her in eternity.
