The remains of Mrs. Hanna Childers, widow of the late David J. Childers, were brought to Strawberry Point Thursday forenoon and laid to rest in the city cemetery. The funeral was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Sinclair, in Oelwein, and short services were conducted here at the grave. Mrs. Childers died at the Sinclair home in Oelwein Tuesday at the age of 69 years.
Hanna Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Collins, was born at Hassboro, New Jersey, July 9th, 1858. Following her marriage to David J. Childers, the young couple settled on a farm in the vicinity of Mederville. Here they resided until the death of Mr. Childers in 1909. Mrs. Childers then sold the farm and went to Oelwein to live, where she has since made her home.
She is survived by two sons, Solomon, of Littleport, and Joseph of Oelwein; and four daughters, Nellie, of Oelwein; Carrie, of Cedar Rapids; Hannah, of Dubuque; and Ruth, of Chicago. She is also survived by several grandchildren.
