Catherine Eibel Yearsous, who died at the August Bernhard home, June 20, 1927, was born in Germany, November 28, 1847. In 1854, she came with her parents to America, locating on a farm in Wagner township, Clayton County, where she grew to womanhood, and in 1865, was united in marriage to George Yearous who preceded her in death fifty-three years ago.
Five children were born to this union, two of whom preceded the mother in death. The remaining are, L. M. Yearous of Giard, and the Misses Martha and Minnie Yearous, at home with the mother.
Mrs. Yearous, after the death of her husband removed from the farm in Wagner township and purchased a home in Giard, which has been her home for fifty-three years. Here she affiliated with the German M.E. church and has been a faithful and consistent member during all these years.
For several years Mrs. Yearous had been afflicted with a light stroke, but was able to get about until several months ago when she became entirely helpless, and she quietly passed away on the night of June 20th.
Funeral services were held on Thursday morning from her late home and the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Menzner. Interment was made in Giard cemetery.
