Friedrich Meese was born August 3rd, 1845, in Germany and passed away at his home south of Littleport, June 12th, 1927, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and nine days.

July 4th, 1869, he was united in marriage to Dorothea Steubing and to this union nine children were born. Seven died in infancy, and William preceded him in death three years ago. His wife also preceded him in death about thirteen years ago.

In 1868 he decided to leave Germany and come to America to live, and made his home at Rochester, N.Y. He was in the brick business for seven years. From there he moved to Missouri where he went to farming. He lived there for several years, when he moved to Iowa and there he made his home until his death.

For the past five years or more he has suffered greatly from the malady which caused his death and which to the last he was determined to conquer. He leaves to mourn his death his son Edward, with whom he had made his home since his wife's death, and also leaves nine grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
