Clayton County Register, Thur., 7 April 1927. Guttenberg columns.
Mrs. W. H. Schrunk (nee Sarah* Brown), a former highly esteemed resident of Guttenberg, passed away at her home at Colesburg on Tuesday morning at the age of 71 years, after an illness of long duration. Deceased was born in Mallory township, where she grew to young womanhood. She was married to W. H. Schrunk. For many years the couple resided on a farm in Millville and Jefferson townships. For several years they were residents of Guttenberg, Mr. Schrunk conducting a hotel here. For a time they lived on a farm in the state of Nebraska. Mrs. Schrunk was a kind and loving wife, mother, sister and friend and a true Christian woman in every respect. She was ever ready with heart and hand to help those in need, which won for her numerous friends during her life, and by whom her memory will be forever cherished. During her illness she was a patient sufferer, and had hopes for recovery until the Angel of Death called her to the other and better world, where there is no more suffering, but joy and happiness forever. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done to save her life, but all to no avail. Her death is deeply mourned by her husband; two sons, Fred Schrunk, of near Colesburg, and William Schrunk of Graham; four daughters, Mrs. Ella Livingston, of Guttenberg, Mrs. Audrey Hyde, of Osterdock, Mrs. Ethel Bolsinger of Colesberg, and Mrs. Carl Kirschbaum, of Guttenberg; a large number of grandchildren; three brothers, Ben Brown of Millville township, John Brown of Colesburg, and George Brown of Mallory township; one sister, Mrs. Rose Wooldridge, of Calispel, Montana; and numerous other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss this good and true woman and worthy mother. The funeral will be held at Colesburg. The body will be laid to rest in the Brown* cemetery near Colesburg.
