Clayton County Register, Thur., 31 Mar. 1927.
Mrs. Live Wold passed away at the Fairview hospital, Minneapolis, Saturday afternoon, March 20th, at the age of 72 years, nine months and nine days. The cause of death was cancer.
She was a daughter of Fingar and Ingrid Johnson, and was born on their old farm west of St. Olaf, on June 11, 1854. On February 11, 1873, she was united in marriage with Thor Wold, and to this union nine children were born, all of whom are living at the present time.
All her life was spent on the farm in Clayton county, with the exception of five years when the family lived in Decorah, Iowa, and the last four years when her home has been in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
She has always enjoyed unusually good health until February when she was taken ill with cancer. She was taken immediately to the hospital at Minneapolis where everything that good care and medical skill could do for her, was done.
She is survived by her husband and nine children: Andrew Wold, Ferdinand Wold, and Lilli Ruth Wold of St. Ansgar; Harrison Wold of St. Olaf; Mrs. Olive Livdahl of Bismark, N.D.; Mrs. Mollie Olson of Pasadena, California; and Mrs. Viola Holt of Hollywood, California. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, one brother, John F. Johnson of St. Olaf, and two sisters, Mrs. Gunder Rugland of St. Olaf, and Gunhild Johnson of Wendell, Minnesota.
The funeral was held at the Norway church, west of St. Olaf, on Wednesday, March 23rd. Even tho the roads were very bad there were many present. All the children were present except Mrs. Olive Livdahl and Mrs. Mollie Olson. The brother and sisters were all present and many nephews and nieces. Arnold and Waldo Wold of St. Ansgar, grandchildren, were among those from a distance. Rev. M. E. Waldeland of St. Ansgar assisted the local pastor at the funeral and interment was in the Norway cemetery.
She confessed the Lutheran faith and it gave her assurance that she would go forth to meet a loving Saviour who welcomed her home. The faithful are saved by grace, not by merit. Thus we would not praise her unduly for her good works, but rather praise the loving Father who gave her His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, who died that we might live.
(Note: Although the obit says she was survived by nine children, only seven were named. The submitter has no explanation or further information.)
