Clayton County Register, Thur., 17 Feb. 1927. Garnavillo column.

The funeral of little Doris Baade of Williams, Minn., was held at the St. Paul's church Thursday, Feb. 17, Rev. Braun officiating. Her death was the result of burns which she received before Christmas. Doris and another girl Elsie Bergan and little sister had gone to the church to practice their parts in the Christmas program. They were the first ones there and had (several words blurred) kerosene did not respond quick enough so Doris found a two gallon can of gasoline and poured it into the slow fire. The can exploded setting fire to her clothes and spreading the flaming gasoline on the floor and the sheet steel walls of the building. Elsie fell into the flames on the floor in running for the door and had her arm burned. The other sister was unharmed. Help was immediately summoned and the fire was quickly put out. Doris was removed to her home shortly after the accident and most skillful medical attention was given her and although she suffered for many weeks she was released from her intense suffering on Feb. 5, at 5 o'clock in the evening. Doris Marie Baade, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baade, was born in Farmersburg August 6, 1915. In 1917 her father preceded her in death, on Oct. 8. She moved with her mother to Williams, Minn. She was a pupil of the sixth grade and was a faithful member of the Congregational Sunday School. She had reached the age of 11 years, five months and 29 days. She is deeply mourned by her grief-stricken mother, her step-father Jesse Torian, and her brothers Floyd and Jason also of Williams, Minnesota.

(Note: Her gravestone is on the IGPP in Garnavillo (new) cemetery. Her step-father's surname was slightly blurred and may be Torlan.)
