Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 28 Aug. 1919.
Just before going to press this afternoon we were informed of an automobile accident which occurred near West Union at about 11 a.m.
Mr. Jack Hurley, wife and four children, accompanied by Mrs. Shea and another young lady, all of Volga, were on their way to attend the fair at West Union when the accident occurred a short distance this side of the town.
The three-year old baby was instantly killed, Mrs. Hurley was severely injured and at this time is still unconscious, but there are hopes for her recovery. Mr. Hurley was bruised about the head and one of the daughters has a broken collar bone, a broken limb and some internal injuries. The other occupants of the car escaped injury.
