Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 21 Aug. 1919. McGregor column.

Word was received yesterday, that at Clayton, Albert Soles, son of Chet Soles of that place, the latter well known here, saved a woman from drowning, but he himself lost his life by drowning. A pair of rubber boots which he wore, prevented him from saving himself.

Note: Both his Death certificate & the Clayton Cemetery burials give his name as Louis. Unknown if he went by Albert, or if a newspaper error.
