Took His Own Life.
Strawberry Point Mail-Press: -- Mr. W. H. Moore, residing three miles south east of town on the township line road committed suicide Sunday afternoon by cutting his throat with a jack knife. When found he was lying cold in death out by the haystack. He had cut a terrible gash in his throat, the knife having gone through the top of his windpipe.
Undoubtedly the act was committed while under deep despondency and during an attack of temporary insanity. The death of his son who was killed by lightning only a few days before and the destruction of a large amount of property by fire so preyed on his mind that he was temporarily unbalanced and while brooding over his misfortunes he took his own life.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Strawberry Point Cemetery and that he was born February 28, 1849 and died September 11, 1904.
