Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 26 June 1919. Strawberry Point column.
Tuesday evening Mrs. J. F. Nace died very suddenly. She had seemingly been in the best of health and attended to her work in the restaurant as usual. After the supper work was finished she and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. C. A. Nace, went to their rooms to dress to attend the W.R.C. Her daughter-in-law heard her make a noise and on going to see what it was she found Mrs. Nace on the floor unconscious. Medical aid was summond but she passed away in a few moments, death being attributed to apoplexy. Alma Roe was born June 19, 1856, and spent most of her life in this community. She was married to J. J. Nace and to this union two children were born: Edith, now Mrs. L. Young of Cedar Rapids, and Clarence A. Nace, who is connected with the restarant business here. Mrs. Nace was a faithful member of the Christian church and an earnest worker in the W.C.T.U. She was also a member of the W.R.C., O.E.S, R.N.A. and B.Y.A. She will be greatly missed in all these circles. In her home life she was a ideal wife and mother. Her greatest thought was for her family, husband and children. Besides her sorrowing husband and children she leaves three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. George Hill of Arlington, Mrs. Nettie Pardie of Waterloo, Mrs. Charles M___y of Eagle Grove, George W. Roe of Cedar Rapids, and Charles Roe of Clermont, Florida.
(Note: Her husband is clearly given as both J. F. and J. J. Nace in the article., as presented here.)
