Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 13 Feb. 1919. Volga City Views column.
Mrs. Ena Maude White Moats was born at Volga, Iowa, on the third day of March, 1867. She was married to A. L. Moats on the 4th day of December, 1890.
Mrs. Moats was a woman who when once known was ever remembered for her kindness, sympathy and intelligence. Her home was the sphere of her mission, to her husband she was a real helpmate, to her children an ideal mother. Nothing in human power can surpass that. No one could ever enter her home without being impressed by the benediction of her presence there.
While she has gone away, nevertheless, her spirit bides, her blessing remains. Even in her sickness she thought of her relatives, and especially of her mother, requesting that a message of hope might be carried to her.
We all believed that the family was recovering from the influenza, when, like a shock, word came to our community telling of her passing, on Sunday morning February 9.
She leaves her husband, four sons, two daughters, her mother, one grandchild, a brother E. W. White, and a sister Mrs. Leon Phillips whose home is in Des Moines. She was laid to rest in Hill Crest Cemetery on Monday afternoon.
