THORESEN, JOHNSON, SKOGMAN, JELLUM

Ole Thoresen, son of Haaken and Kari Thoresen, was born in Norway, May 17, 1869. He passed away at his home in St. Olaf, Iowa, Sunday morning, May 22, thus reaching the age of sixty-nine years and five days.

Mr. Thoresen's health had been failing for a long period of time, but he was able to be around somewhat up until May 10th, when he was taken seriously ill.

Mr. Thoresen came to America with his parents when he was but two years of age, and had resided in this community ever since.

On Dec. 14, 1895, he was united in marriage with Ella Johnson. Two children were born in this union, Caroline, now Mrs. Godfrey Skogman, of Farmersburg and Herbert of Hillsdale, N.J.

Mr. and Mrs. Thoresen started farming on what is now the Oscar Gleane farm, south of the Norway church. They resided there for two years and then moved to the farm near Farmersburg where they resided for 30 years, until ten years ago, when they retired to St. Olaf.

Mr. Thoresen was an honest, up-right man, and his interests were centered chiefly about his home and family. He leaves to mourn, his widow, two children and 2 grandchildren, Deane and Ellen Skogman; three brothers, Tanier Thoresen of Drayton, N.D., Sam Thoresen of Omaha, Nebr., Eli Thoresen of Osage, Iowa; three sisters, Elena Thoresen, Mrs. Gunder Jellum, and Carrie Thoresen, all of Osage, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home in St. Olaf and 2:00 o'clock at the Norway church, of which Mr. Thoresen had been a lifelong member. Reverend Haugstul of McGregor officiated.

Casket bearers were Otto Kjosa, Richard Looby, William Reardon, William Carney, Elmer Ronquist, Oscar Thompson, Herbert Thompson and Tov Tofsrud. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended were Eli Thoresen and son Howard; Mr. and Mrs. Gunder Jellum and son Lloyd, and Carrie Thoresen, all of Osage, Iowa; Mrs. Paul Hickey of Sheboygan, Wis. and E.O. Hagen and Mr. Johnson of Stewartville, Minn.
