Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 9 Jan. 1919. McGregor column.
It is with regret that we learn of the death of Mrs. Bonnie Bloedel, wife of Captain Bloedel, now in France. She had been in McGregor awaiting the return of her husband, when she was taken ill. All that medical skill could do was done, but in vain, and she passed away at the hospital Sunday. She was born at McGregor, July 27th, 1876. She was married about 14 years ago and has traveled very extensively since then, having visited the Philippines, Alaska, and many other countries. She was a kindergarden teacher in McGregor and Chicago. While in the Philippines with the captain, she had charge of a kindergarden department and taught the children of General Pershing. She was held in high esteem by all and leaves many sorrowing friends.
