Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 9 Jan. 1919. Littleport column.

Grandma Goodman, mother of J. J. Birch, died at her home Sunday evening after several days illness, due to a stroke of paralysis which she had about Christmas day. She was one of the oldest residents here and was widely known by a large circle of friends who regret her taking. The funeral was held at the church Wednesday morning, burial taking place in the cemetery south of town. We are at this writing without further data on this old ladies life all of which would be very interesting. The community extends its sympathy to those left to mourn her passing.
