Ella Elisabeth Theodora Engelhardt, the daughter of Chas. Engelhardt and his wife Wilhelmina, nee Taake, was born September 22, 1888, near St. Olaf. She was christened by Rev. F. Seifert of Clayton Center and confirmed to the faith of her Redeemer in St. John's Luth. church at Farmersburg, by Rev. G. F. Braun, the 23rd of March, 1902. Ella had been suffering for the past 14 years being taken ill first with spinal trouble which finally caused the paralysis of the greater part of her body. She bore her trouble with a grand spirit always submitting to the rulings of her God with great faith, in fact her faith was the power that had overcome the world. Peacefully she slumbered over the threshold of life to the great shore of eternal life at 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 29, at the age of 30 years, 3 months and 8 days. She leaves her mother, Mr. Chas. Engelhardt, the brothers George, of Oregon; Otto, of Farmersburg; Charles, of Lilly, S.D.; Hugo, of Duluth, Minn.; Freddie, at home; Roy, in the U.S. service in France; the sisters, Bertha, Mrs. Emil Buck, of Calmar, Iowa; and Pearl, Mrs. Orvid Nelson, of Hillrose, Colo.
She was laid to rest on Thursday, Jan. 2. The funeral was conducted by Dr. G. F. Braun of the Luth. church. Interment took place in Clayton Center.
