Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 18 Dec. 1913. Local News columns.

Mary Ellen Harbaugh was born in Bedford County, Pa., Nov. _ (looks like 5 or 6), 1841, and was called home to rest Dec. 8, 1913.

She came to Clayton County, Iowa, with her parents in 1855 and here she formed the acquaintance of John B. Grace, to whom she was joined in wedlock in June, 1865. To this happy union four daughters were born all surviving to mourn her departure. For over forty-eight years this couple traveled the journey of life together, until she was called home.

Those mourning her departure are her husband and daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Hansel, Mrs. Jennie Hansel, Mrs. Vinnie Bond and Mrs. Myrtle Landis; three brothers, one sister, twenty-two grandchildren and three grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. W. M. Leiser, of the Fairview U.B. church, at the home and her remains were laid to rest in the Hansel cemetery, there to await the resurrection morn.
