They farmed together and raised their six children near Luxemburg, Iowa. After her children were grown she worked part time at the Guttenberg Care Center as a certified nursing assistance for a number of years. She enjoyed her work there very much. After she retired from farming and CNA work Janice and Paul enjoyed traveling.

Janice was a member of St Anne's Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Guttenberg Hospital Auxiliary.

When her health was good she served as a team leader for St Mary’s Catholic Church funeral dinners. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Guttenberg Hospital gift shop, Guttenberg Care Center and local meal site. Most important to her was spending time with Paul, her children, grandchildren and other family members. She also enjoyed spending time with all of her longtime friends, playing cards, baking/cooking and going to the Guttenberg pool.
