Elizabeth Ann Herbon was born at Great Aton, Yorkshire, England, Oct. 28, 1850, and died at her home near Strawberry Point, Iowa, in the evening of Aug.18, 1913, at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 20 days. When she was four years of age her parents moved to America, making their home in Buffalo, N.Y., for several years. Later they settled in Delaware County, Iowa, which has since been her home. In 1869 she was united in marriage with Richard L. Laity and together they traveled life's way until she was called home. To them were born four sons and five daughters. The eldest daughter, Mrs. Clara Balluff, preceded her mother in death seven years. She leaves to mourn her loss beside her husband, of her immediate family, four daughters: Mrs. Mary Donahoo, Mrs. Zetta Kash, Mrs. Zilla Gladwin, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Jennie, at home: and four sons: Richard, of Strawberry Point, and Herbert, Harvard and Jay, at home, also one sister, Mrs. Mary Ball, of Arlington Iowa, and five brothers: Henry and Edward, of Virgil, S.D.; Stephen of Mitchell, S.D.; John, of Battle Lake, Minn., and Edwin, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, remain to mourn for her. The funeral service was held on Thursday morning, Aug. 21st, at the home, being in charge of her pastor, Rev. S. C. Bretnall, of Lamont. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Strawberry Point.
