Daniel Samuel Betts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Betts, was born near Garden Plains, Ill., March 29th, 1897. In 1907 the family removed to the vicinity of Strawberry Point and in the six years of their residence have come to be well known in this community. About the middle of December he took a slight cold and from that developed inflammatory rheumatism which settled about his heart. For weeks he was a great sufferer but seemed to rally at last and was able to be out during the warm days of a few weeks past. A relapse came however and after a few days of intense suffering he died on Sunday afternoon, May 3rd. He was sixteen years, one month and six days old. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Bradford.
