Mrs. Torkel Knudtson passed away at the old homestead, some seven miles east of here, Friday, April 18, 1913, at the age of eighty-one years, six months and eighteen days. Deceased was born in Norway and came to this country in 1857 and in the year 1858 she was united in marriage to Torkel Knudtson. They made their home on the farm, where she died and for sixty-one years she has resided on the banks of the Turkey. She was an old resident and widely known for her many charitable and kindly acts. Her illness dates back about four years, but during the past ten weeks she failed gradually until the end came. Mrs. Knudtson was the mother of eight children and is survived by her aged husband, her eight children, forty-seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, together with relatives and friends, who deeply mourn her passing. The children who survive her are: Ole, O. T., Thos., and H. T., Mesdames E. G. Halverson, Nels Lof_tven and Chris Erickson., all of whom reside in or near this city, and Knudt, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., and all attended the funeral, which was held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock, Rev. Arveson presiding and interment was made in the Marion church cemetery. The pallbearers were six grandsons. The sympathy of all is extended to the sorrowing family in their sad bereavement.
