Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 1 May 1913. Elkport and Vicinity column.

Mrs. Elizabeth Zapf died at the home of her son, Michael Zapf, Monday evening at 8 p.m., after an illness of several months. She had just reached her 81st birthday the day before her death. Mrs. Zapf was a very kind hearted, industrious old lady and loved by all who knew her. The funeral was held Friday. The remains were laid to rest in the Garnavillo cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss a number of children and grandchildren, to whom we extend the sympathy of this community.
