Bertha Greve Miersen died at 12:30 Friday morning, March 21st, at her home east of town. This good woman was born at Communia, Ia., on Oct. 17th, 1865, and grew to womanhood here, among those she loved and those who knew her best and on June 10th, 18__, she married John Miersen, who preceded her to the great beyond on September _nd, 1911. To this couple was born one son, Otto, who is left to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate mother. She also leaves an aged mother, five sisters and four brothers, They are: Mrs. Fredricka H__ms, of Oxford Junction; Mrs. Elizabeth Ender__, of Littleport; Mrs. Ida S____, of Elkader: and Mrs. Minnie N_____ and Mrs. Clara Hamilton, of A_____, Ill. The brothers are Frank Greve, who resides in South America and who was unable to be present; Wm., of F___bury, Neb.; George, of Yankton, S.D.; and Fred, of Friend, Neb. One sister, Mrs. Caroline H______on, was also unable to be present, on account of illness. The others of her family were present at her funeral, which was held from the family residence, burial taking place beside her husband in Union Cemetery, south of town, to which place a large gathering of sympathizing friends had gathered to pay their last respects to their departed friend and neighbor.
