Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 13 Mar. 1913. Volga City Views columns.

John Franklin Fallon, who after a few weeks sickness, passed from his earthly toil to the heavenly reward last Sabbath evening. He was born in Ohio April 2nd, 1845, and died at his home near Volga City, March 9, 1913, aged 67 years, 11 months and 7 days. Mr. Fallon, with his parents, moved from Ohio to Wisconsin in 1857, where he lived about 12 years. In 1863 he moved to Clayton County, near Mederville, where in 1870 he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Frederick. To this happy union were born seven children, three of them passing over to the other side before their father. In 1873 they moved to Kansas, where they lived two years, after which they returned to their home near Mederville and in 1892 they moved onto a farm near Volga City, where they have lived ever since. Mr. Fallon was converted to God and united with the Christian church in 1893, under the labors of Rev. Dunklingberger and remained a member of same until death called him from labor to reward. He was a loving and devoted husband, a kind father, a good neighbor, and a splendid citizen, honored and respected by all who knew him. He leaves a loving wife, two sons, Orrin S. and John F. Fallon, two daughters, Mrs. Emma Hall and Mrs. Elma Pfchantz, all living near Volga City, also six sisters, who are living in Kansas and eleven grandchildren, besides many friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Fallon was a member of the Brotherhood of American Yeomen at Volga. The services were conducted by Rev. Walter Piper at the M.E. church Wednesday afternoon, assisted by the Rev. Jesse E. Heins and Joseph Jennings. The interment was in Volga cemetery.

A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.

God in his wisdom has recalled
A boon his love had given,
And the body slumbers here
His soul is safe in heaven.
