Barney Hurley died Friday night at his home in Highland township, aged about 78 years.
Deceased was born in Ireland, came to the United States when a boy, and to Clayton County in 1855, where he has resided for more than half a century and where he was respected and esteemed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held in St. Joseph's Church, this city, on Monday, and were conducted by Father Heatherington, of Volga City, interment in the Catholic cemetery.
He is survived by a large family of children, as follows: John and Jerry, of Highland township; M. R., of Boardman township; Timothy and Stella, at home; Agnes and Anna, of Winona, Minn.; Catherine and Ellen, both of whom are teachers; Dr. Wm. J. Hurley, of Chicago; and Barney, of Waterloo; also other relatives and many friends, all of whom will miss him and mourn his departure into eternity.
The pall bearers were: J. K. Molumby, John Neylon, Maurice Minihan, Daniel McNeal, Sr., P. J. Cain and John Borman.
