Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 06 Feb. 1913. Local News columns.

Mrs. Mary Stahl, nee Heiden, was born Dec. 19th, 1842, at Stavenhagen, Germany. Her parents came over to America when Mary was 14 years old. They made Elkader their home. Here she was married in 1860 to John Stahl.

Twelve children were born to this union, of which four preceded their mother in death. About ten years ago her husband died.

For the past few years she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Behrens, near Littleport, where she passed away Jan. 29th, after a sickness of about three months.

Her departure is mourned by eight children, viz, August, of Grinnell, Ia.; Charles, of Arbia, Colo.; Lena, of Littleport, Ia.; Fred, of Osborne, Ia.; John, Minnie and Mary, of Volga City, Ia.; and George, of Oelwein, Ia.

She also leaves sixteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, two brothers, and other relatives and friends.

Friday morning the funeral services were held at the new house of Wm. Behrens, conducted by Rev. Franke, interment at the Mederville cemetery. Our sympathy is with the bereaved family.
