Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 28 Nov. 1907. Local News columns.
A special to the Register and Leader from Strawberry Point says that Gotlob Streicker, a young German residing about six miles northwest of that place, was found dead Sunday with the upper half of his body immersed in a barrel in which was kept water for family use. It appears that he had not been feeling well for several days. He went out to get a drink from the barrel and not finding the cup, it is supposed that he leaned over to drink from the barrel. In this act he either fainted or became overbalanced, with the fatal result of drowning. When found physicians could render no aid. Suicide is scouted, the affair being considered purely accidental.
