Elias F. Pardee was born in Buchanan, Mich., on April 23rd, 1849, and died at Volga, Iowa, Oct. 22nd, 1907. Mr. Pardee came to Clayton county, Iowa, with his parents in the spring of 1851 and has resided there up to his death. He was a good man and a kind neighbor and loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a kind and indulgent husband and father and a home man in all respects. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Volga and lived up to its teachings. Mr. Pardee was married to Miss Elenor Roe, of Strawberry Point, on the 12th day of March, 1871. He leaves to mourn him his wife and four children, Jessie, Mrs. Fred Chapman, of Highland twp.; Rev. Ernest L. Pardee, pastor of Prairie Creek Church of Christ, near Vinton, Ia.; Fred, near Alexandria, S.D.; Nettie, a student at Drake University, Des Moines; and eight grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Ring, of Winnebago City, Minn., one brother Willis of Chicago and a mother who lives in Volga. The funeral was held in the Church of Christ at Volga on Oct. 24th, by Rev. F. W. Sutton, pastor of the Church of Christ, of Arlington, assisted by Rev. Shoemacher, of the M.E. Church of Volga. Burial in the Volga cemetery. The pall bearers were his six brothers-in-law, C. M. Massey, of Eagle Grove; C. B. Roe, of Des Moines, Ia.; Geo. W. Roe, of Strawberry Point; Geo. Hill, of Arlington; J. F. Nace, of Strawberry Point, and W. H. Nace, of Arlington, Ia. Those in attendance from abroad were C. O. Roe and wife, of Des Moines, Ia.; Geo. Hill and wife, Arlington, Ia.; W. H. Nace, Arlington; J. F. Nace and wife, Strawberry Point; C. M. Massey and wife, Eagle Grove; C. B. Roe, Arlington; Geo. W. Roe, Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Toney, Manchester; and fourteen nephews and nieces, Mrs. Ring, Winnebago City, Minn., and Willie Pardee, of Chicago. Mr. Pardee was a member of Fairview Lodge No. 132 M.B.A. of Volga.
