Cain, Joseph Patrick 1888 - 1907

Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Oct. 1907.

At the family residence in Boardman twp., at 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Oct. 17th, occurred the death of Joseph P., only son of Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Cain, after an illness continuing for the past four years of Bright's disease. Eminent medical skill was employed and everything that loving care could do, was done, but it all proved of no avail.

Joseph was born on the home farm in this township, March 19th, 1888. He is survived by his parents, three sisters, Maggie, Lucy and Anna, and other relatives, all of whom deeply mourn the loss of a worthy son and loving brother, who in his 20th year, is called to depart this life.

The funeral services were held Sunday morning at St. Joseph's church, conducted by Rev. J. F. Reilly. They were largely attended by kindred and friends of the family.

The sympathy of the people of this community goes out to the bereaved family.
