Anna Maria Berns, nee Ofergoun, died at the home of her son, Herman Berns, near National, Saturday morning. She was born at Hochlan, Province of Westphalia, Germany, Aug. 15, 1824. After her marriage with Theodore Berns in the year 1849, they immigrated to America, locating on a farm south of Garnavillo. Her husband proceeded (preceded) her in death. For the past few years she has been living with her son. She is survived by five sons, Henry, Herman, Peter, Theo. and Joe, and about forty grandchildren. Interment occurred Tuesday at 10 a.m. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. Raedler.
