Wm. Meehan, a long time resident of this county in the vicinity of Clayton, passed away Wednesday at Mercy hospital in Dubuque, aged 72 years. Mr. Meehan went to Dubuque a few weeks ago to visit his nephew, Jos. Meehan, and was later taken ill with kidney and liver trouble and was removed to the hospital for treatment where he gradually failed until death came to his relief Wednesday. Deceased was a native of Ireland and came to America with his relatives when a child of two years. He is survived by a number of relatives in the vicinity of Clayton. Richard Hayden of this city is a cousin of the deceased. It is not known what arrangements have been made for the funeral, but will likely take place at Garnavillo.
