Elkader Register, Thur., 11 July 1907. Strawberry Point column.

Last Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter Mrs. Jas. McLane occurred the death of Mrs. Leah Maxwell, aged 90 years, 10 months and 27 days. She was the oldest resident of this section. The funeral was held Tuesday, Rev. Martindale, of Greeley, preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery. Her brother, Patrick Mitchell, and wife, of Lincoln, Ill., and her children, Mesdames Clint Brandenburg and Frank Partch, of Mederville, Mrs. W. M. Lamphiear, of Volga City, Mrs. Enfield Brandenburg and Wm. Maxwell, of Des Moines, were among those present at the funeral.
