Elkader Register, Thur., 11 July 1907. Luana column.

One of the saddest deaths which has occurred for years occurred last Friday when Ralph Bacon, oldest son of Frank Bacon, of Hickory Creek, passed away. He was a promising young man of 23 years, and had hosts of friends who showed their deep sympathy for the family by completely covering the coffin and filling the church with beautiful flowers. The funeral was held at the M.E. church in Monona, and the burial was also in Monona. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Wyatt, of the Luana M.E. church. This untimely death was occasioned by catching a bad cold while ill with the measles. A large number from here attended the funeral.
