IN MEMOR1AM.
Gertrude Anna Hahn was born June 28, 1896, daughter of A. B. and Anna Cannon Hahn Died February 10, 1920, aged 23 years, 7 months and 12 days. Her mother passed away April 1st, 1898, leaving Gertrude at the age of 2 years to the tender care of her father. She received her schooling in the North McGregor schools, and was naturally a deep thinker and a great reader. She loved to talk on the deeper subjects, more so than most young persons of her age, and she was ever ready with the good points in every one, a worthy trait in her young life, unfolding a character of high esteem.
She spent the past few months with relatives and friends in Dubuque, arriving home unexpectedly Friday afternoon. She then had what she and the home folks thought was just a cold, but medical help was called, and although not expected, silently the Reaper of Death gathered her young soul into the Master’s care Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock, while she slept, and she was reunited with beloved ones waiting on the other side, where there is neither sickness nor pain.
Pneumonia following the flu was the cause of her passing She was a devout member of St. Mary ’s Catholic church, and a member of the Woodman Circle. The service's were held at St. Mary’s church burial strictly in accordance with the requirements at this time. Rev. Father Taken of Elkader, having charge of the services. Burial in St. Mary’s cemetery There were many beautiful floral offerings as a tribute to her worthy young Christian life.
