At the home of Jos. Kuehl in this township Saturday evening, Jan. 26th, occurred the death of Ludwig Fick. Deceased was born Jan. 1, 1830, at K_e_, Province Brandenberg, Germany. Came to America in 1870 and in 1872 was married to Dorothea Eland (possibly Bland), who survives him. For many years he was a laborer and afterwards he bought a farm in Cox Creek township, which he operated until about three weeks ago, when he and his wife went to the home of Mr. Kuehl, a grandnephew, to spend the remainder of their days. For the past three months Mr. Fick has been in poor health. The funeral was at the German church in Elkader, Tuesday, Rev. Leonhard officiating. Interment in the East Side cemetery.
