Orlan Warn, oldest son of Ed Warn, who formerly was for years, a resident of Luana, was killed Saturday by falling backward onto the saw of a portable saw mill, about which he was employed some miles east of Luana. They undertook to take him to his home in Monona, but he was so seriously injured that he died on the way.

The community was shocked last Saturday on hearing Orlin Warn had met with a fatal accident, while working with John Peters, assisting in sawing timber about three miles northwest of here. Just how the accident happened is not known as no one saw him at the time he struck the saw. It is supposed, however, that in removing a slab from the carriage, it was caught by the saw and before he realized it the unfortunate man was drawn in with it, the moment he came in contact with the saw he was hurled about 20 feet, striking John Peters with terrific force, which was the first Mr. Peters knew of the accident. A quick examination showed the saw had struck the victim about the left thigh passing straight up the body to the shoulder, severing the left arm, and lacerating the body horribly. He was quickly placed in a sleigh and hurried to Monona, being alive when they reached Monona, but died before they reached home. This makes it all the more sad being the second fatal accident of its kind in the past few months.
Orlin M. Warn was born near Monona, Iowa, in December, 1859, his age was therefore 47 years, 1 month.
On January 28, 18_8, he was married to Adelia Montour, at Monona. Two children were born to them, a daughter, who died in infancy, and one son, Edward, aged 7, who, with his wife and aged mother, now living in Minneapolis, survive him.
Mr. Warn was an honest and upright citizen, respected by the community, who deeply regret the untimely death. He was a member of St. Patrick's church and also a member of Monona lodge 211, M.B.A., in which society he carried insurance. Funeral was held from the Catholic church Tuesday, Jan. 2_th, and was attended by an unusually large number of citizens. Burial in the Catholic cemetery.
