Mattie May Ecker was born at North McGregor, May 31, 1870, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ecker. She received her education in the North McGregor school, one of a class of fourteen, graduating in June 18_5, under Prof. J. J. McF__l. She was proficient in music, having received musical instruction from the late Delia Frise, of McGregor, and later instructions at St. Mary's Convent, Prairie du Chien. Eleven years ago she united with the M.E. church, receiving baptism from Rev. D. C. Dutton. October 28, 1903, she was united in marriage to Guy Lindsey, of Clarion, Rev. Dutton performing the ceremony. They lived at Clarion until the spring of 1906, when Mr. Lindsey transferred from the C.G.W. road to the C.M. & St.P. road and they moved to Sanborn, where she died Saturday morning, Jan. 5th, 1907, after a brief illness. The remains were brought to North McGregor and the funeral services were held in the M.E. church Monday morning. Rev. Dutton was called from Anamosa and preached an splendid sermon from the text St. John 14 - 2, In my father's house. Mrs. Lindsey was a member of Maple Leaf Lodge Ladies Auxiliary of the B. of R.T. of Clarion. She is survived by her husband, a little daughter, sixteen months old, her parents, brothers and sisters.
