Helmuth Theodore Brantman was born on June 13th, 1835, in Mecklenburg, Schwerin, and died in Beloit, Wis., on February 9th, 1916. On May 24th, 1860, he was united in marriage to Lina Studtheit, whose death occurred in March 1868, at the age of 27 years, 5 months and 3 days. In December, 1869, he married Louise Aulwes. To this union five children were born: Glendon, Tillie, Helmuth, Huldah and Arthur, who died in infancy. In July, 1880, the mother passed away. In January, 1882, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Wilhelmina Maurer Barnes, a widow with two children. Six children blessed this union, namely: Walda, Marvin, Raymond and Ellis. Willis and Rascoe, died in infancy. The deceased had always been a resident of Garnavillo until 1908, when the family moved to Beloit, Wis., where they remained until September, 1915, when the deceased and his daughter Walda moved to Edgerton, Wis., to make their home with Rev. Marvin Brant. Mrs. Brant died in October, 1912, at the home of Dr. Brant, in Farmersburg. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Rev. Braun officiating. Those left to mourn his death are Huldah Roebken and Carrie Krueger, of Garnavillo; Gunder, of Farmersburg; Tillie Schmidt, of Postville; Helmuth, of Oregon; Raymond, of Germania, Iowa; Ellis, of Madison, Wis.; Jessie Lothrop, of Beloit, Wis.; Walda and Marvin, of Edgerton, Wis. All were in attendance at the funeral but Glendor.
