Died, at her home in Cedar County, Missouri, January 1st, 1916, Hazel D. Porter, oldest daughter of James S. and Florence M. Porter. Deceased was born in Elk township, Clayton County, Iowa, May 26th, 1900, la grippe, with complications of stomach and bowel trouble, being the cause of her death.
Hazel was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints on August 3rd, 1910, at Osterdock, Iowa, by Elder L. E. Hills, and remained firm in the faith to the end. She was of a kind and loving disposition, cultivating the friendship of all with whom she came in contact, a thorough student at school and a great lover of music. She was sick but one short week, death taking her in the bloom of youth and happiness.
