Sarah Whittle was born in Cox Creek township, Clayton County, Iowa, October 10th, 1853, where she resided until March 17th, 1874, when she was united in marriage to J. P. O'Leary, of Monona, where she made her home until December 18th, 1915, wen she departed this life to meet her heavenly father. She was the loving mother of eleven children, two girls and nine boys: Dinnis, John, Dan, Joe, Arthur, James, George, Frank, Francis, Mary, now Mrs. John Mullen, of Prinston, Minn., and Harriet, now Mrs. Rich Collins, of Monona. Four of her sons preceded her in death: John and Joe, who passed away in young manhood, Frank and Arthur, in childhood. She was a loving wife and mother and a true friend. Besides her seven children and loving husband she leaves nine grandchildren, two brothers, John Whittle, of Littleport, Iowa, and H. K. Whittle, of Willow Lake, S.D., and one sister, Mrs. John Linch, of Volga City. Funeral was held at St. Patrick's Church, Monona, on Tuesday, December 31st. services conducted by Rev. Father Hogan.
