John (Jake) Sautter, 73, of 1810 Neupert Ave. Apt. B, Schofield, Wis., a former Mauston resident, passed away June 13, 1986, at the Wausau Hospital. The son of William and Gladys (Oliver) Sautter was born on July 21, 1912, at Monona, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Gilster on April 3, 1934. John was a semi-driver for Glendenning, retiring in 1965. He was a member of Mauston Bethany Lutheran Church where funeral services were held June 17th. Interment was in the Mauston Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Pallbearers were Gene Dallman and nephews, Fred, John and Terry Sautter, Steve Hendrix, Elvie Gilster.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; a daughter Mrs. Duke (Beverly) Wentzel of Anniwa, Wis.; three sisters, Elizabeth Wellingham of Ardmore, Okla., Minnie Kahler of Mauston, and Winifred Mitchell of Streator, Ill.; five grandchildren, Debra Crawford and John Cole of Mauston, Wis., Penny Madsen of McGuire Air Force Base, N.J., Don Cole of Dracut, Mass., and Pam Schramm of Wausau,, Wis.; eight great-grandchildren.

Those that attended funeral services from the Monona area were: Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gilster, Elvie Gilster, Mr. and Mrs. Elvie Drahn, Mrs. and Mrs. Ray Mielke, Mr. and Mrs. Nile Kruse. From McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mielke, Mrs. Sandy Thornton & son Trompus; Norma Mitchell of Elkader; Earl Gilster of Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Creighton Mielke of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mielke of Rockford, Ill. and relatives from Minnesota.
