Funeral services for Ethel Palas were held Tuesday, January 7, 1986 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, with Pastor Robert Edward officiating. Pallbearers were Kent Powell, Grant Miller, Loren Plozel, Roger Honn Russel Pate, and Eugene Miller. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.
Ethel (Honn) Palas was born July 30, 1904, near Luana, Iowa, the daughter of Henry C. and Dorothea Frieda (Schroeder) Honn. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana, and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran, Monona. She received her education in the Monona school. On September 3, 1930, she was united in marriage to Harley John Palas at the Little Brown Church. To this union one son was born. She worked for a number of years at Rosenberg's before her marriage. She was active in many activities when her health permitted, she was a member of St. John's Church, the ALCW, Square dancers and card clubs. She died Saturday, January 4, 1986, at the Central Community Hospital, Elkader, after a short illness.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Harley J., who died June 26, 1985, two brothers, Arthur and Harvey, and three sisters, Mabel, Ora and Eda.
Surviving are her son Valdean, his wife, Alice, one brother Roy Honn, two sisters, Emma Thompson, Monona, and Laura Powell, Elkader.
