Word was received Thursday stating the death of Arthur Chesley, who passed away of heart failure, Wednesday, in Minneapolis. Mr. Chesley was general manager of the Superior Coal & Lumber Company, of Minneapolis, and at one time a resident of this place. Arthur L. Chesley was born in the state of New York in 1859 and died in Minneapolis, Minn., December 6th, 1916. When but two years of age he came to Strawberry Point, where he lived until 1890. He then moved to Estherville, Iowa, where he lived for two years. From there he moved to Spencer, Iowa, and remained there until 1909, when he moved to Minneapolis. In 1883 he was married to Miss Maggie Renwick. To this union was born one son, Ray, who resides at Sioux City, Iowa. Besides his wife and son Mr. Chesley leaves three sisters: Mrs. Dora Keeler, of Joplin, Mo.; Mrs. Leanore Barnes, of Thayer, Mo..; and Mrs. Eva Wheeler, of Norton, Kan. The remains were brought here Saturday morning. On account of the serious illness of his wife she was unable to accompany the remains here for interment. The remains were taken to the Chas. Roberts home, where funeral services were held in the afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. C. Harris. The Masons had charge of the services at the grave. Besides the son Ray and his wife and three sisters, the relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. James Renwick, of Britt; Mrs. Cynthia Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Moore, of Spencer. The following acted as pallbearers: J. A. Smith, of Osage; Otto Bjorenstaat and E. W. Atherton, of Sioux City; E. W. Moulton and Mr. Coleman, of Minneapolis.
