Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 16 Nov. 1916. Gunder column.
Mrs. Gunlid Landsgard was born in Opdahl, Norway, in the year 1845, and died at her home in Marion township on Wednesday evening, November 8th. She was married in Norway to Even Landsgard and a little later they emigrated to America, locating in Clayton County, Iowa, where they made their home, with the exception of three years when they lived at Sandstone, Minn., where Mr. Landsgard died. Mrs. Landsgard was the mother of seven children, three of whom preceded her in death. The remaining ones are Mrs. Alvin Clark, of Elkader, Esten, Tom and Emma at home. Mrs. Landsgard had been in her usual good health until Saturday, when she was taken suddenly ill. A doctor was called and her relatives summoned and all that medical aid and loving hands could do was done to help her, but she lingered until Wednesday evening, when death came to relieve her of her earthly pain. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Marion Church of which she was a member, and the remains were laid to rest in the Marion cemetery. The sympathy of the many friends goes out to the children in their sorrow.
