Jacob Falkenhainer, of Milwaukee, father of B. F. Falkenhainer, of Elkader, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. F. Kenkel, in Milwaukee, Saturday, November 4th, at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 26 days.
Deceased was born in Alsfeld, Prov. Hessen, Germany, in 1827, and came to America in 1853, and resided in St. Louis, Mo., for one year. He then moved to Guttenberg, where he lived for fifty-three years and worked at his trade of coppersmith. In 1856 he was married to Phillipina Lahr. To this union were born five sons and one daughter. His wife preceded him in death, having died in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1879 after a short illness. One son, George, died three years ago in Milwaukee.
The surviving relatives are the four sons, Ben F., of Elkader, Aug. H, of Des Moines, and Otto and Albert, of Algona, one daughter, Elizabeth, of Milwaukee, thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
For ten years Mr. Falkenhainer made his home at various places with his children but the last two years he has lived at Little Falls, Minn. During his recent illness he has been with his daughter in Milwaukee.
The remains were brought to Guttenberg, Tuesday, for burial. Mr. J. F. Kenkel, of Milwaukee, spoke in a touching manner, at the cemetery, of the long and useful life of the deceased and of the void his death would make among his loved ones.
