Elmer A. Radloff

Funeral services for Elmer August Radloff were held Monday, March 14, 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. Pastor Albert Hock officiated. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery, Monona. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, in charge of services.

He was born October 28, 1897 in Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He was the youngest son of seven children born to Charles and Wilhemina Klinkenberg Radloff. He died Thursday, March 10, 1988 at Guttenberg Care Center where he had been a resident since March 4, 1988. In October, 1987 he was privileged to observe his 90th birthday with an Open House.

He was baptized in the Lutheran faith May 6, 1898 by Rev. Seifert at Clayton Center. He was confirmed March 31, 1912 by Rev. Theodore Gutzloff at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. He received his education in area public schools.

On February 5, 1948 Elmer married Esther Kurth. They farmed in Wagner Township until September 29, 1965 when they moved to Farmersburg. He served as town custodian and caretaker of local cemeteries.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Esther, who died August 20, 1982; parents; 2 brothers, Louis and George and 3 sisters, Malinda Schultz, Lucy Hagensick and Ella Dahlstrom.

Surviving is a step-son, Vernon Kurth of Farmersburg; 3 step-daughters, Ethellyn Herrmann of Monona, Barbara Christianson of Guttenberg and Karen Wright of Farmersburg; an adopted daughter, Sonora Bass of Savannah, GA; 16 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hilma Lenth of Monona.

Pallbearers were step-grandson, Steve Christianson, Paul Christianson, David Herrmann, Jerry Christianson, Lester Wright, Scott Wright, Timothy Wright, Russell Wright and Brett Wright.
