Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 7 Sept. 1916. Strawberry Point column.
Mrs. Cole, wife of the late A. R. Cole, passed away Tuesday morning at 2 a.m. at the home of her son, Bert R. Cole, of this place. Mrs. Cole had been in poor health for some time and all that medical skill could do was done for her, but of no avail. Mrs. Cole's first husband was John Cook, who died in 1873. To this union were born three children, one dying in infancy. The remaining two are William Cook and Harley Cook, who live near Le Mars, Iowa. In 1875 she was united in marriage at this place to Lawyer A. R. Cole, who preceded her to the Better World February 4th, 1915. Two children blessed this union, Mrs. Myrtle Kaberle, of this place, who is now in a critical condition in the hospital at Waterloo, and Bert R. Cole, who is assistant cashier in the First National Bank of this place. Mrs. Cole was a lady of 72 years of age and had been a resident of this community for sixty-seven years. Funeral services were held in the M.E. Church this morning at 10:00 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. J. Rose.
