Mrs. O. E. Glesne passed away on Friday, August 18th, 1916, at 11:00 o'clock p.m., at the home of her son, Even Glesne, in Wagner township, after an illness of about two weeks, death resulting from old age.
She was born in Norway on August 17th, 1829, and came to America in 1852, first residing in Wisconsin and in 1854 came to Iowa and remained here until her death.
In 1856 she was united in marriage to Ole Evenson Glesne, in Wagner township, and seven children were born to them, four surviving her, viz: Even Glesne, of Wagner township; John O. Glesne, of Elkader; Ole Glesne, of Decorah; and Mrs. Tillie Johnson, of Wagner township.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon with short services at the house at 1:00 o'clock and at the Norway Church at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Arveson officiating, with interment in the Norway cemetery in Wagner township.
(Note: WPA records indicate this is a reference to Helga Glesne, 1829 - 18 Aug. 1916.)
